The lights looked great in December. Taking them down in the cold is a different story. We remove holiday lighting across Hudson and the surrounding area, whether we installed it or not.
You need this once the season’s over and the lights need to come down, especially if you’re not eager to get back on a ladder in January cold. It’s also useful if lights were installed with staples or nails and you want them removed without damage to your roof or fascia, or if you simply never scheduled a takedown and the lights are still up well past the season.

We remove the lights and any fasteners cleanly, checking the roof edge and fascia for any damage from the original installation while we’re up there. Lights get taken down and stored or disposed of based on what you’d like, and we confirm nothing was left behind that could cause a problem before spring.
Cost depends on the linear footage of lighting and how it was originally fastened. Removal scheduled at the same time as installation is typically included as part of that project; standalone removal gets a separate estimate.
We’re a roofing company, so we’re already comfortable and equipped to be on your roof edge safely in winter conditions. Over 25 years of exterior construction experience means we also know what to look for in terms of damage from a previous installation while we’re removing lights.

Lights left up through winter are exposed to more snow load, ice, and wind than they’re designed for, increasing the chance of a strand failing or fasteners pulling loose and damaging the roof edge. Removing lights in a timely way also reduces the ladder risk that comes with waiting until conditions get worse.
It carries real risk. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports falls as the most common cause of holiday decorating injuries nationwide, and a roof edge that’s icy or snow covered in January is a more hazardous place to be than it was during the fall install.
We’re careful about it. Improperly fastened lights, especially those stapled or nailed directly into shingles, can leave small punctures that we address while removing the fasteners, checking for any resulting damage that needs attention.
Yes. We remove holiday lighting regardless of who installed it originally, and we’ll flag any damage or fastener issues we find from the original install.
Shortly after the holiday season ends is ideal, before repeated snow and ice cycles put more stress on the lights and fasteners. Call (715) 222-0037 and we’ll get it scheduled.
Skip the cold ladder trip this January.
